Forms are an integral part of the practice of law. Whether selling legal forms to non-lawyers serves the interests of those who buy them depends on how the buyers use them. Non-lawyers, properly informed, using their own common sense and good judgment, can decide for themselves whether to buy and how to use legal forms. In my view, LegalZoom’s marketing is slick, misleading and phony, increasing the risk – in order to sell product – that its customers will mis-use the forms they’ve purchased. More to come.
